Go For What You Want

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying the content that I’ve been putting on my blog! I’m really excited for upcoming posts that I’ve been working on. Thank you for reading my posts! Lately what I’ve really been focusing on is going for what I want. What does this mean? It means acting on my ambitions, dreams, and goals. Specifically speaking for this blog, I’m excited for the things that will come because I’ve loved working on this passion project. However, I’ve noticed that sometimes it can be hard to go for what I want. It seems like there is so much to do and I don’t even know where to start. I have a few tips on how I’ve learned to “go for it” when it comes to what kind of future I want to create for myself.
The first thing that I’ve realized was that I was getting in the way of my ambitions because I was comparing myself to others. Having social media makes it hard to not compare yourself to others because of fake fronts we put up. My problem was comparing myself to people who were at the level that I wanted to be. These people have a huge following and are recognized as big social media influencers, and I am nowhere near that. I used to, and sometimes still do, get down on myself because I thought I can never be where they are. Well hell yeah I wasn’t going to be at their level if I’m thinking that way!
Along with comparison comes the lack of focus. I’ve caught myself being so focused on what everyone else is doing that I’ve forgotten to focus on what I’m doing. When I get jealous over someone else’s accomplishments I begin to put all my energy in what they are doing instead of what I can be doing . I’ve made a post before called “Stay Focused” where I go in depth on this topic. Definitely take a look if you’ve been struggling with this!
As frustrating as this sounds, in order to achieve your goals you have to learn to be patient. I know, this is probably the most annoying one to hear but it’s probably the most important. I get so impatient when I think about all the things I want to achieve that it gets in the way of what I am doing in the moment. Remember, you can’t control what will happen in the future, but you can control what you are doing NOW. The work you are putting in NOW is what’s most important.
I know this will sound cliche but knowledge is power! I used to not want to pursue my dreams because I thought “Everyone else knows so much more than me, there’s no way I can learn all of that.” This thought has probably been through your head too. That sentence used to live in my thoughts because I allowed it. I allowed to let myself stay at that level, until I had enough. If you don’t know how to do something then read, watch videos on it, talk to other people. Everyone starts as a beginner, never let your lack of knowledge stop you from wanting to know more about a topic you aren’t an expert in.
Finally, my biggest tip is to just start. You’ve been wanting to start your own blog? Start it. You want to have better grades? Start studying. You want to be healthier? Start eating right and exercising. We keep all these desires in our heads but we never let them become a reality. Actions speak louder than words. You can think all you want about where you want to be but if you don’t start acting on those wishes, nothing will ever happen.
Life is way too short to obsess over what everyone else is doing. In order to go for what we want, we have to start looking at the amount of work we are putting towards our own success. Everyone has their hurdles that they go through, even if you don’t see it, it’s there. You are incharge of the life you create. You have the power to become whoever you want to be. It all starts with you.
